Chelsea captain John Terry could be back in action in just EIGHT days after back surgery this week.
The Mirror says the England skipper was recovering in hospital in Bordeaux after the 30-minute keyhole operation.
But Terry, who will fly back to London today, hopes to be back running by Monday and could even declare himself fit to play in the FA Cup third round clash with Macclesfield on January 6.
It was discovered that a piece of the bottom disc in Terry's lower back had fallen off and was putting pressure on his spinal cord.
The surgeons used keyhole technology to pick up the fragment of cartilage, meaning only a 2cm wide incision was needed, hugely shortening the recovery period.
Terry will miss just the two Premiership games with Fulham tomorrow and at Aston Villa on Tuesday if all has gone well.

Chelsea captain John Terry was on Friday able to join in a jogging session, only 24 hours after surgery on his damaged back.
Terry arrived back in England on Friday morning, after undergoing surgery in France, and took part in some light jogging at his club's Cobham training ground. Chelsea's club doctor Bryan English, who accompanied Terry to France, said: "The instructions from the surgeon were to run the day after surgery.
"That is great for us and great for John. We are not going to do anything with John that is going to cause him problems. I am not in the game of pushing him out there because it is for the benefit of Chelsea - but I also don't want to hold him back unnecessarily
English also hit back at initial expert opinion outside the club which estimated Terry's injury would sideline him for up to six weeks.
Surgeons removed a sequestrated lumbar intervertebral disc, using a revolutionary new technique, and English added: "I won't say exactly how long he is going to take to recover
8 days to 6 weeks is the answer to this so hopefully he will only miss the next 2 premiership game and the FA cup game and be back for the game against wigan

its good news that Terry will be back but i suppose he will not be able to feature for full action until much later? He still need to get back his match fitness.
as for Cech, kudos for his speedy recovery, i think its about two three months in the reserve team too to get some match fitness as well. I think Cech won't have much impact on the premiership title liaoz.
cole at Chelsea is a fringe player bcos he rarely starts and is plagued with injuries. I think between him and Robben, Robben doles out more damage. -

Chelsea captain John Terry is back in training just 24 hours after undergoing back surgery.
The Blues skipper reported for duty yesterday, even telling shocked manager Jose Mourinho: Count me in for Fulham.
The Premiership champions play their local rivals today - although Terry will not be risked despite his amazing recovery.
Terry was in France on Thursday night for his surgery on a disc in his spine.
He flew back to London yesterday morning and was driven straight to Chelsea's training ground in Surrey.
The England skipper ran for an hour before a strenuous swim in nearby Cobham to keep up his fitness while his surgical wounds heal.
Blues doctor Bryan English said: "The instructions from the surgeon were to run the day after surgery. That is great for us and great for John.
"We are not going to do anything with John that is going to cause him problems.
"I won't be drawn into what game he will be back but I am sure people will draw their own conclusions."
Terry, 26, may return to face Liverpool on January 20, though the January 6 FA Cup tie against Macclesfield remains a possibility. -
Hard to imagine that people can recover from a spine injury after 8 days. Harder when you're going to play professional soccer.

I hope he is not rushed back 2 soon after the operation and then gets break down for coming back 2 soon than he is supposed to and then out for 1-2 months
If that happens, Chelsea's title is not looking good
