Chelsea are keeping tabs on Porto stopper Pepe Ferreira.
The Brazilian was considered by Jose Mourinho for the January market, but the Blues boss decided against moving for the youngster because he was already Cup-tied from the Champions League.
Ferreira also is still waiting to get his Portuguese passport and the club feared that there could be problems over his work permit. -

Chelsea are interested in Trabzonspor defender Milan Stepanov.
The 23 year-old is under consideration by Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho to boost his defensive stocks for the second-half of the season.
Along with Chelsea, Fiorentina are also interested in Stepanov, who has had a £6 million price-tag slapped on him by his Turkish club. -

Valencia defender Roberto Ayala has attracted interest from Chelsea and Liverpool.
The 33 year-old Argentina international is off contract at the end of this season and his agent is believed to have struck an agreement with Villarreal.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is making a move for Deportivo La Coruna defender Jorge Andrade.
The Mirror says he is desperate to reinforce his back four during January and has got Manchester City's 18-year-old Micah Richards on his hit-list.
But Mourinho is also keen on 28-year-old Andrade who is just coming back from a nine-month lay-off with a knee injury.
The former Porto defender, now at Deportivo La Coruna, may be allowed to leave Spain to get himself fit and agents have alerted Chelsea to his potential availability.
It would be a short-term loan which worked well for Chelsea last year when they signed Portugal midfielder Maniche on a temporary deal. -

Sevilla striker Fredi Kanoute is being linked with Chelsea.
The Independent says Chelsea are seriously searching for a new striker as cover for Didier Drogba. There is now an acceptance at the club that in the event of an injury to the Ivorian there is simply no way that Andrei Shevchenko or Salomon Kalou can be relied on for goals.
Kanoute, once of West Ham and Tottenham, has been linked with Chelsea but he would prove expensive, given that his club are credible challengers for the Spanish title. -

West Ham United are convinced they have struck terms with Chelsea over a £9.8 million fee for winger Shaun Wright-Phillips.
The Sun says Hammers chief Alan Curbishley is confident of signing Wright-Phillips, 24, and is just awaiting permission to finalise the player's personal terms.
West Ham's new owner Eggert Magnusson and Chelsea have ironed out the transfer.
But Blues boss Jose Mourinho has yet to give his permission for the sale.
He is wary of losing another player when Joe Cole could miss the rest of the season through injury and Dutch star Arjen Robben is out with a muscle tear. -

Bolton Wanderers want £5 million for Israel international defender Tal Ben Haim.
The Independent says Chelsea want to sign Ben Haim, but only if they can close the deal quickly.
While Bolton are more or less resigned to losing Ben Haim, they are frustrating Chelsea with their high valuation on a player they bought for £250,000 from Maccabi Tel Aviv in July 2004.
Khalid Boulahrouz is out for up to six weeks with knee ligament problems, but Ben Haim is being bought primarily because Blues boss Jose Mourinho has lost faith in the Dutchman. -
Man City resigned to selling Richards

Manchester City are resigned to losing defender Micah Richards this year.
The Guardian says Richards does not intend to force the issue but it has become apparent that he wants to move to Chelsea and his transfer now seems to be only a question of timing and finance.
City anticipate there will be official contact in the coming days but their preference is to keep Richards until the end of the season, unless they receive an offer so high they feel they cannot turn it down. Roman Abramovich would therefore have to release another £18m-20m from his seemingly bottomless pot of riches if they were determined to sign the 18-year-old during this transfer window. -

Oldham Athletic admit they're monitoring Chelsea's pursuit of Manchester City defender Micah Richards.
The League One high-flyers negotiated a 20% sell on clause when the England defender left Oldham to join City's academy as a 14-year-old.
And with Chelsea ready to launch an £18m bid to land the 18-year-old, the Latics are set to receive a much-needed cash boost.
Oldham chief executive Alan Hardy told the Daily Star: "We are watching the situation very carefully.
"There is a sell on clause and it has been there since I sat down with City secretary Bernard Halford four years ago following the deal that took Micah to City.
"We have had money from City already based on appearances but we also have the percentage of any transfer fee.
"It's certainly something worth having and it would be a tremendous boost for us if Micah was to move." -

Tottenham and Aston Villa have joined the queue of clubs chasing Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips.
After Chelsea struck terms with West Ham over a £9.8 million fee for the England international more Premiership rivals have contacted the defending champs about SWP's availability.
Newcastle are also in the race for misfit Wright-Phillips, 25, but they first want to take him on loan to the end of the season.
Former club Manchester City, who sold him to the Blues for £21million in July 2005, would also like him to make a return.
Villa have offered Czech striker Milan Baros in part-exchange for Wright-Phillips - who made a rare start for the Blues in the 0-0 draw at Villa Park last Tuesday - but Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho rejected the idea.
The question of wages has also to be negotiated as Wright-Phillips is on £55,000 a week.
West Ham and Spurs are prepared to match that but Villa would have to blow their wage structure wide open to do the same. -

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Steven Pienaar and Charlton striker Darren Bent have both been offered to money-bags Chelsea in the last week.
The Sunday Times says Charlton Athletic manager Alan Pardew contacted Chelsea this week to inform them that Bent was available for £25m. Pienaar has not played in European competition this season and is available for £1.3m from Borussia Dortmund. Blues boss Jose Mourinho has yet to respond to the proposal. -
