Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was bristling yesterday after being told to "button it" by Manchester United's Sir Alex Ferguson last week.
The Chelsea chief said: "Why should I shut up? I'm not allowed to talk about referees, but he has been doing it for the last 20 years.
"What's the difference between me and him? What would he say if Chelsea win a match with a penalty like they did at Middlesbrough and Tottenham, or the penalty they got in the first minute against Portsmouth?
"I want to separate things. One thing is 100 per cent respect for him, for the players, for the club, for the team they have and for the wonderful things they are doing in the league. That is one part of the story.
"But the other is that, at the right time, they have had a penalty or a goal or a sending-off, and something has happened for them to be in a positive situation.
"They have a great team and are doing a great job. I want to be honest. We are the champions and we have to adopt the attitude of champions."
