Chelsea 2007 / 2008

  So here we go again into the 2007 / 2008 season.
  
  What a year we had even though we did not manage to retain the the EPL for the 3rd year running. The Carling Cup and the FA Cup was the highlights and going into the UCL semis was another highlight.
  
  Mourinho wants to concentrate on the UCL this coming season. WHat do you guys think?

  I thought it was a good thing to drop him from the England squad. Made him a better player.

  Adding on from my post in 'Who do you think Chelsea should buy?', Sidwell and Pizarro are only stop gap measures when the African Nations Cup begins. Until the season starts, we will never know what Chelsea, or Mourinho, or Abramovich will want to get.
  
  We can keep speculating, but they call the shots who enters Chelsea and who exits Chelsea.

  dun talk about the established playmakers. i can't think of much up and coming ones.
  
  even from south america, where there've been numerous good playmakers over the years, it seems to be drying up.

  Let's see how the Chelsea first team plus subs will look without our African players :
  
  GK - Cech, Cudicini
  
  Left Back - A. Cole or Bridge
  
  Right Back - Ferreira or Glen Johnson or Boulahrouz (if he is still round)
  
  Central Defence - Terry, Carvalho
  
  Midfield - Ballack, Lampard, Makelele, Diarra
  
  Forward - J. Cole, Robben, Shev, SWP, Ben Sahar
  
  Now with Sidwell and Pizarro added on. The team still looks good. The only notable weakness is our subs for the Central Defence.

  I got feeling that chelsea will buy a defender - its really thin - and Mourinho is fed up with Ferraria & Bhoulaouz - who played a part in costing them the title.
  
  its apparent the lack of funds - i mean no one in premier league even wanted Pizzaro and they went to buy albeit on a free. He's like 32? Why on earth buy a player at 32 when your Shevchenko is also 30+? The only young player is Kalou in the striker department.
  
  Perhaps, they are buying time, to dong for the next season before splurging again.

  err, chelsea interested in daniel alves.. hope its through, but i know 1 thing.
  
  mourinho likes defenders who can def, alves a brazilian, i not sure how he's defending standard is.zz..

  1st half of the season very impressive, 2nd half not so good. anyway i am quite skeptical about south americans in the epl.

  He is only 22,but he sure has the talent.
