  featured the vocals of one popular professor of the day, Magnus Pike... who was also in the music video which was made in a madcap way which only the people in the 80s could get away with
  
  Pike was a very jovial and likable professor in a tv series then about science, Don't Ask Me! which i loved when they showed it on Singapore TV then

  the blatant sexuality of his albums caused a lot of controversy, as well as his ambiguous nature of his clothes could not mask the sheer genius of this funkmeister

  this dude has such a emotive voice... somehow, you believed and felt when he sang this sad sweet song..

  i have no idea what the singer is singing coz it's in Japanese
  
  but the song sounds so damned good.. used in the ending credits of a few episodes of Rurouni Kenshin.. it is a bluesy yet hopeful tone with a lady whose voice is supple as heck..
  
  fell in love with this song the first time i heard it

  and so the conversation turned
  until the sun went down
  and many fantasies were learnt
  on that day
  
  unreasonably cheerful song.. especially with Phil Oakey and the girls singing backup

  Prince is in it as The Kid... an aspiring singer in a club with other singers like his rival in the movie, Morris (Morris Day and the Time)
  
  he meets a girl Apollonia (Apollonia Kotero), losing her to Morris, his self-destructive behaviour mirroring his father's, and coming to grips with everything else...
  
  pretty lousy acting, but the music in there is amazing... great songs like When Doves Cry, Take Me With You, and the title track, Purple Rain done live..
