erm, nyc ah? well, my last visit there was like 3 years ago? they get like nyc t-shirts for really cheap. i tink like 5 for US$10. as i was on a coach travel, didn't really venture much.
maybe she could check out the webby? i know some places, she must visit. like the ground zero, massey, chinatown....places like that.
anyways, wishing her have fun! -

i did think of asking her to buy some tshirts back for me, but i'm also thinking of some other stuff like... chocolates we can't get here readily... e.g. cherry ripe, nutrageous etc etc... but i can't quite think of any -
Speaking of NY. Anyone going to Singapore Day in NYC on April 21?
THE little red dot is going to have a field day in the Big Apple in two weeks' time: Singapore artists and hawkers will be flown to New York for an event called Singapore Day.
Aimed at keeping Singaporeans abroad connected by bringing them a slice of home, the inaugural event will be a day of Singapore entertainment and food.
It will be held at Bryant Park - between Fifth and Sixth avenues - and the whole-day event on April 21 hopes to draw Singaporeans living in and around New York.
So far, at least 1,500 people have registered online. They are expected to take along their friends for the event, and the organisers - the Overseas Singaporean Unit - are providing for 5,000 people.
The unit was set up last year under the Prime Minister's Office to connect Singaporeans living abroad to home. It declined to say how much it is spending on Singapore Day or if the event will be a yearly one.
Some of the day's highlights include an open-air getai performance by film-maker Royston Tan, 30, and the two leads of his new film, 881, actors Mindee Ong and Yeo Yann Yann. The latter was named Best Actress in this year's Life! Theatre Awards for her performance in the classic Chinese play, Thunderstorm.
Decked in showy stage costumes, they will sing songs from Tan's film, a musical comedy about two showgirls called The Papaya Sisters, who perform at the yearly Hungry Ghost Festival shows. Footage of the film will be worked into the show.
The film-maker, who wrapped up 881's filming on Tuesday, said: 'I'm sure getai will be something Singaporeans abroad will feel very nostalgic about.'
There will also be performances by indie band Great Spy Experiment and singer Kit Chan and a musical medley called Singapore Got Musical Meh? - a cheeky and nostalgic look at the colourful history of musical theatre in Singapore.
Musical theatre performers such as Robin Goh, George Chan and Dwayne Tan will take the stage.
Said Dwayne Tan, 29, who is carving out an acting career in New York: 'I've never had both worlds connect. My American friends can see how crazy Singaporeans can be, and the Singapore aunties from the hawker stalls can see what New York is like.'
The day will end with Chestnuts, Singapore's longest-running annual parody show. Called Spoofing Singapore Silly, it stars Hossan Leong, Jonathan Lim and Rodney Oliveiro, who will poke fun at anything from EZlink cards to belacan.
Leong, 37, said he is excited to perform Singaporean gags in New York for the first time.
He said: 'I don't have to tone down the Singlish because the show is meant for Singaporeans anyway. It'll be interesting to see how the show will be received in the heart of Broadway.'
Dishing out a feast of chicken rice, satay, laksa and other treats for homesick Singaporeans in the Big Apple are about 10 popular food stalls and eateries.
These include the famous Tian Tian Chicken Rice from Maxwell Food Centre and Xiang Xiang Chwee Kueh in Bedok.
There will also be a gala dinner at the New York Public Library building in Fifth Avenue in the evening.
Singaporeans living there are getting primed for the event, too.
Miss Ann Tiong, 23, who works in the Neue Galerie, a museum of German and Austrian art, said: 'It'll be nice to see familiar faces in a foreign country and to feel a sense of community when you're alone in a big city.' -
