The man shouts back 'I'm English, speak English, I don't understand you'.

So funny how the Irish don't really get along with the english till this day... During my days in Chef school, i had an irish and a brit both in my class and boy did they hated each other...

I don't think it was a colony. The British invaded Ireland, and were eventually pushed back, so the British now have Northern Ireland, and the rest of the irish island is the Republic of Ireland. Yes the British invaded Ireland AND made it into their colony.
