if we came from evolution, wad happened to the rest of the monkeys? forgot to evolve?

man evolved from the most primitive of apes, over tens of thousands of years, to become what he is today.
it is thought that man and monkeys share a common ancestor somewhere in the ancestral tree, and the tree branch out into several sub-types halfway, like homo sapiens, homo erectus, Neanderthal man, Con-mangro man....those less successful ones die out while the rest of the other sub-types take over......it's survival of the fittest.
in short, they fail to adapt and thus couldn't evolve, and went extinct.
we're descendants of the homo erectus species, and it is thought that this species branch out from africa into other continents like china (got one type called "Peking Man" or "Leakey's Man" there).
i've always thought that caucasians descend from Neanderthals, because of their blonde/red hair, fair skin and green/blue eyes.
i've seen a portrait of a Neanderthal girl before and she looks exactly like a modern day ang-moh girl.
so much for scientific theory.
