Job hazard

Heyall, i got a job as a waiter in a restaurant which is quite formal as in those whr we wear suits those high class type. Well just few days ago i was doing my job half asleep/half awake. While serving soup i spilled the entire bowl of soup on a customer. N the bowl also landed on his head. As u can guess, it was humiliating. And to makes thing worse, he was a VIP. Idk y but he thought i did it on purpose n quarelled with me n i ended up just giving him a bich slap in the face twice out of pique. Ofcos my boss fired me, but i rly need this job. I applogised n even visited the VIP on my own to apologise. But he didnt want to forgive me. My boss said if this VIP guy let the matter rest i could go back. Pls offer advice. Help needed ASAP N URGENTLY :(
