Oh great, I just compared myself to little boys and girls... *giggles*
Here's one paradox for you (it's similar to catch22):
If you don't learn martial arts, you'll probably never know it's ethics involved.
Ethics comes first before you should seek your path in martial arts.
Apologies for bumping the thread after 2 months. But i help in kids martial arts classes. And imo, they really shouldn't be there. Many of them lack the enthusiasm and spirit of learning. And like you say, they dunno right from wrong. So most of the time it is the parents who force them there rather then they volunteer into it.

I agree. to the bottom line, but not the top line. Before you start on anything, you must ask yourself why you want to learn it. Is it to protect yourself or to hurt others? And you have to do research. I have been reading up on quite a few martial arts before i decided to join mine. You have to see which one suits your personality, and your needs. Anyway, universal ethics is defend yourself, defend the people you love and defend the helpless. Unless you are talking about ninjutsu.
