I hear of a Bjj dojo in Chinatown with an instructor who is a 'purple belt' and got tapped out by a white belt... Anyone knows who this joker is?

I dunno stelazio. Nobody knows. It's so secretive. Maybe it's an underground dojo... like the kumite from the movie bloodsport! Or maybe he just so paiseh that he got tapped out.
It's ok to lose. But why announce it to the world about your purple belt and furthermore teach the art when you got tapped out 4 times! Kimuraguy. I didn't know he got tapped out 4 times. I only heard once. Geeeeeez. that's worse than I thought. -

BJJ stands for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. It has an overwhelming emphasis on ground fighting and contains many chokes and joint locks. So yes, I guess it has quite a bit to do with people rolling on the ground.

I bought fight videos from HMV and the commentators were saying how people got armbarred and choked out by grapplers but i have no idea what is bjj. I thought its a sexual term, i was getting sexually aroused you know..

Just a little.
UK wide, there are obviously many highly skilled practitioners. In nearby Birmingham, there is a gracie barra with a BJJ blackbelt teaching. In london, Roger Gracie, and many other famous names are teaching.
In Leicester, where I was based, there was a Royce Gracie affiliate taught by a BJJ bluebelt. There was also a MMA/Submission wreslting instructor who was later awarded a BJJ Blue belt.
As you can see, UK wide, there are probably more big names and accomplished fighters than in Singapore. OTOH, Singapore probably has it better than leicester.
Not saying that leicester instructors are lousy! They could pretty much tap me at will. Blind folded. With one hand tied behind their backs. (not that that is saying much...)
Anyway, I will look up mma academy as soon as my knee heals. I think I injured a nerve and the slighest bump hurts like a mother... -
U talk about BJJ and it's always Darren that comes to mind. Please, that guy is so over rated.. I learnt BJJ/MMA like over 2 years already and i have been taught as a group by Carlos Newton and BJ penn.My group will be going to meet the one and only royce gracie personally for some pointers and friendly spars. and about the "dojo" ur talking about.. it's not at chinatown but at Selegie..Pls check ur facts right. I was there to witness it and the purple belter was Eric Lyam Tan who was due to go for his brown grading the week later

Wah one more thing, I dunno who this eric lyaam Tan is but he not the one I talking about, somebody pm'ed me the joker name already. But I'm sure your friend eric msut be damn happy that you paoto that ANOTHER purple belt got tapped out by a white belt.. going for grading a week after somemore.......Aiyooooooh... Ya lor Black belt Jones, I also agree. you talking about the chinatown one right? Or you talking about THE OTHER purple belt that got tapped out? So far the grappling tournaments here I go and see, only got 1 purple belt lei. and the last time I see him grapple, I think he had to give his instructor bj for his bjj blue belt (At that time he still blue). He won that one...but everyone who saw the tounament thought he must be doing 'undertable' for event organiser. But so funny right? I dunno anything about this dojo in Selegie though? Anybody have any idea of this other underground dojo?

well what i found out that a guys named jason who used to teach somewhere near peranakan place was the one that got tapped out 4 times in 4 mins by a white belt.

darren overrated.....man you must have not met him and grappled with him in person. i was present in some grappling tournament where his white belt was grappling with the purple belt bjj guy from peranakan place and the purple belt COULD NOT EVEN TAP HIM OUT.
But darren rolls with this guy and taps him out every time in a min. (The bet is that if darren can't tap him out in a min he owns the guy a drink.)
so please meet the guy and grapple with him and then tell me he is over rated. By the way he has produce a number of grappling champions locally and overseas.
has any school won anything overseas? His students have won bjj championships as far as America.
