I never turn on my system restore. It uses up alot of spaceOriginally posted by GSL:On a Windows 98SE Computer: Kernel32.dll crash, cannot login not even in safe mode !!!
On a Windows XP PRO Computer: WINLOGIN.EXE Crash, cannot login not even in safe mode, forget to turn on system restore.
I change the "Restore Point" of the system restore 3-4 times a week so it will not take up a lot of space.Originally posted by chanff8:I never turn on my system restore. It uses up alot of space![]()

Burn as in got fire? Or short circuit?Originally posted by YI:i am not sure if this is considered a computer crashes or not but my worse experience is the time my computer power supply burn! other more common crashes involves my harddisk giving up on me. can't really blame them. it's second-hand after-all.
Kernel21.dll crash, your computer will be gone case. Have to re-install.Originally posted by GSL:On a Windows 98SE Computer: Kernel32.dll crash, cannot login not even in safe mode !!!

WINLOGON.EXE may be able to repair with Windows XP discOriginally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Kernel21.dll crash, your computer will be gone case. Have to re-install.
I am not so sure for WINLOGON.EXE though.
its a pretty useful function considered it's free. hmm.. if harddisk space is a limited factor for you, you can always work around it. by creating a new restore point (whenever there is large changes to your harddisk) and used in conjunction with the percentage of harddisk allocation, you will be able to free up some much-needed space.Originally posted by chanff8:I never turn on my system restore. true. although there are alternative. but are you going to go through your registry/file system every other day? since the program is already there.. why not.Originally posted by GSL:I change the "Restore Point" of the system restore 3-4 times a week so it will not take up a lot of space.
System restore will be handy in case some goes wrong on the computer
that happened on my first PC. Smoke were first detected and then kapong.. monitor went out and the power tripped. the circuit breaker must had kicked in. the power supply and the power cable had to be replaced. a visual inspection on the rubber contact point between the power supply and the power cable shows that it had melted, possibly caused by an electrical fire.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Burn as in got fire? ic. oh well.. guess you just have to make up for it by being more careful.Originally posted by chanff8:System restore slows down my PC thats why I disable it. I'm very very picky about speed![]()
I think you got a faulty plug. For this to happen and to involve the circuit breaker, it is very obvious that the fuse in the plug failed to work.Originally posted by YI:that happened on my first PC. Got disable firewall? Another big boost to speed.Originally posted by YI:ic. oh well.. guess you just have to make up for it by being more careful.
