Technology advancement is good, but when buying it, it a totally another question because why we buy something that is way beyond our need as well as paying a hefty sum for it and to see it sitting there and depreciate in price exponentially until it become worthless.
Blu-ray and HD-DVD technology allows tonnes of data to be burn into a single disk, but serious how often do we need to it and how often do we use it? Even with current DVD of 4.7G disk, you can burn win xp, xp office, NSW2003 and tonnes of common used software into one single dvd.
Lastly, never ever buy branded DVD write like pioneer, sony etc go for those cheap taiwan brand like Lite-On or ASUS becos they dun have copyright protection and they are much cheaper. Performance wise they won't lost to those establish Japanese brand.
Btw i'm not encourging piracy or anti-brand. It just my experience that i gather over the past few years. Anyway it just my 2 cent.
