Now, DVD writers are already going below $100, it is already the most bottom price you can get before they are going to phrase out in the future.

Also don't get branded writer such as Pioneer, Sony etc becos it got very high copyright protection. Go for those cheap and good taiwan brand such as Lite-On. Using the same Jap Technology but at a much cheaper price.
Blu-Ray is not necessary unless you burn alot and use frequently.
Personally used Lite-On and Sony DVD write b4, not much diff except that i can't burn movies from DVD due to the copyright protection.
