i click back again anc click on the link and it show me this again. it is only by clicking back again and clicking the link again that i finally got into SCDF page.
meaning to say the 1st 2 attempts i click on the google or yahoo result, it'll show me the below, only for the 3rd attempt that i can finally go into the correct page.
it's very annoying. spyware again?

Anyway, not all spyware and be removed by antispywares. Some bear worse characteristics. I saw one that hijacked the bootup of XP, and when you try and remove it XP won't boot again.

I think we should start a thread to blacklist sites known/suspected to contain spyware, browser hijackers etc.. for the benefit of everyone.

So it's actually a form of punishment too.
But the people from the websites get paid $ for every spyware infection!

Ok usually there is also a XXX.DLL in your system to enable it or maybe a very small exe file...
Kana a more advance type which writes a string in your registery to make your own internet explorer turns against you
Try using more scans available...don't just use a few only if you love to surf such sites

are there any good spyware remover to recommend, i'm using ad-ware and spybot but they don't seems to help me solve this google/yahoo search problem.

For this part, open registry editor.
Go to Start, Run. Type in regedit in the textbox.
Find HKEY_CURRENT_USER, click on the plus sign.
Find Software, click on the plus sign.
Find Microsoft, click on the plus sign.
Find Windows, click on the plus sign.
Find CurrentVersion, click on the plus sign.
Find ruins. Delete that.
Do the same for all the spywares shown in the picture (the picture before the registry editor).
If you are unsure, use Microsoft Antispyware. Editing the registry is risky if you don't know how. Either that, use Spybot S&D. See the advisory thread on spyware.
For this part:
Restart Computer in safe mode. Press F8 before the Windows logo shows. Select safe mode. Find the entries one by one and delete them. You have to print out your picture to help you.
Again, use Microsoft Antispyware if you don't want to spoil your computer. Spybot S&D also offers removing those spyware. -

ok i deleted the ruins folder, but it just kept coming back.
as for the cookie, must i really go into safemode to delete them? cos i tried deleting all cookie in normal windows mode and it doesn't help. will deleting the cookies in safemode help me solve the google/yahoo problem? -

untick Enable 3rd party-browser extension ... -

For IE, go to Tools, Internet Options. Click Delete Cookies.
Then Delete Files. Check the Delete all offline contents checkbox also. Then click OK. Click on Clear History.
After all this is done, click OK.
For Firefox, if you are using v1.5 and above, just press Ctrl+Shift+Del. It will clear all your cookies and cache.
For the ruins spyware, use Spybot S&D. Use their cleaning utility to clean off. After that, restart computer in Safe Mode. Find the folder where this spyware is installed. Check your registry also. If it is back there, delete it. Restart computer again. Do a full system scan. If it is not there, then problem should be solved. If it comes back a few days later, write in to Straits Times for help. and don't visit that particular website again. -
