The Xbox 360 is Microsoft's second video game console, the successor to their original Xbox. The Xbox 360 will compete amongst the upcoming generation of consoles, including the Sony PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Revolution, and was officially unveiled on MTV on May 12, 2005, a week before the E3 trade show.
In all countries except Japan the console is sold in two different configurations: the "Xbox 360" and the "Xbox 360 Core System". The Xbox 360 configuration, often referred to as the "Premium Edition", includes a hard drive (required for backwards compatibility with original Xbox games), a wireless controller, a headset, an Ethernet cable, an Xbox Live silver subscription, and a component HD AV cable (which can also be used on non-HD TVs).
The console hardware is based on a custom IBM PowerPC-based "Xenon" central processing unit (CPU) and a custom ATI "Xenos" graphics processing unit (GPU). It is equipped with 512 MB of RAM and uses the DVD-ROM storage medium for Xbox 360 game software.
The Xbox 360 was released on November 22, 2005 in United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico, December 2 in Europe, December 10 in Japan, February 2, 2006 in Mexico and Colombia. It will be released February 24 in South Korea, March 16, 2006 in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan (Delayed from original March 2 launch date). Australia and New Zealand, after being delayed, have been set-back from March 2 to March 23.

I'm not letting my PS2 games go to waste either. Not sure whether I'll even buy PS3. I'm not into console games. Lost interest a few months ago

anyway, dun get the core edition. it sucks.
for S$150 more, you can get the premium edition, which comes with 20GB hard disk (compared with a 64MB memory card), wireless controller, composite AV cable, xBox Live Gold (30-day trial), xBox Live Silver, ethernet cable and headset. -
frankly... they should sell the core edition at a rock bottom price which most ppl can afford.... then i can also frankly say i will buy a core edition and work on the development of hacks for the xbox360.... who cares about the eula....

why is the 20GB HD needed to play xbox(1) games?
yesterday i tested the new xbox 360 which made its appearance at the IT show, the new controller was nice and smaller and i noticed the 2 new button above the 2 trigger which is similiar to the PS2's L and R button....PGR3 was nice but perfect dark zero suck to me....2 of the xbox 360 there apparently encountered problems...
but when its vertical wouldent the disc drop out if i eject the dvd-drive? -
owned a ps2 before? if not... you livei n the stone age... the drive has a thing to hold the cd in place. and yes you do need the hdd to play xbox games

dunno whether to buy now or wait for offers....
another issue is ports for the wired controllers...im not sure if the xbox 360 can hold 4 wired controllers coz i read somewhere got USB port for 3 only....otherwise i tink i move on to wireless controllers...one port to 4 controllers..dunno whether it will screw a multiplayer game -
It wont, most likely will have tiny plastic things at the disc tray there to hold the disc in when vertical. I heard about the 3 wired controller thing too. I tried it out yestersay...1st thing that caught my attention is the ultra high-end extreme graphics on the screen...no graphics card in the world can match it...
