SINGAPORE : If you missed your favourite MediaCorp TV programme, you can now view them online, whenever you like.
This is all thanks to a new online subscription-based, video-on-demand service.
There is a new way to watch your favourite MediaCorp TV comedy or drama.
MediaCorp Online Broadband TV is a video-on-demand service for viewers to control what, when and where they want to watch their favourite shows from all MediaCorp TV free-to-air channels.
The online database stores programmes from the last two weeks, and even includes never-seen-before programme footages and clips of MediaCorp artistes.
Mr Chang Long Jong, Deputy Group CEO of MediaCorp TV, said: "This is one way for us to cater to the increasing demand of our viewers for control in choice basically. We want to also enable our viewers to be able to enjoy our content at the time they like, whether it is day or night. And really, this is a very good way we feel to build our strong viewer loyalty.
"Over time, we also want to take the lead in the area of video-on-demand online. In the near future, we are also planning a lot of new services on this vehicle. For example, even premiering some new shows on the platform first.
"We are also looking at the possibility of making available some old titles that have been favourites among the viewers so that they can enjoy the shows again."
Besides programmes produced by MediaCorp TV, there are plans to put acquired titles like 'Desperate Housewives' online a day after its telecast.
Targeted at tech-savvy youths and adults in Singapore, MediaCorp TV says the service will be made very affordable, and is expected to be lower than what the market is currently charging for VCD and DVD rentals on a per title basis.
The first 2,000 viewers to sign now will get a month-long free trial for unlimited viewing.
MediaCorp Online Broadband TV will be officially launched in the middle of this year. - CNA/de
