Microsoft driver flaw saps battery strengthAnother flaw by Microsoft. It is caused by XP SP2. It affects Intel-based notebooks. Intel denied that it is their chip problems. When peripheral device is connected to USB 2.0 port, the battery life would decrease significantly.
A fix is on the way. According to Microsoft, it could be in the form of BIOS patch. In their Knowledge Base article, it was said that by editing the registry keys, you could solve the problem. However, it is not sure if it could solve this problem as it is not included in lab testing.
It is unclear if AMD processors are affected as well.
