how to turn on subtitles for the movie files like mpeg or avi? will WMP do the job?
i believe have to put the .srt file in the same folder as the .mpg/avi file but like nothing works....

Use classic media player...
the .srt file must have the same name as the movie file itself...and they must be in the same directory/folder

They don't have to be in the same folder. Play the video first, point to the player where the srt file is, press stop and play again to make changes.

Open Windows Media Player. Go to the Play, Captions and Subtitles and select On if Available.
