Shutting down win XP

  I cannot shut down my window XP properly. It keeps restarting (something like a loop) whenever I want to shut down. So I need to shut down illegally. Do you know how I can solve this problem?

  Try this:
  
  Go to Start, Run and type in shutdown -s
  
  If it can't, you probably got a virus. Scan for it and try repairing it. If no viruses are found, your registry is probably corrupted.
  
  You may want to try the registry cleaner recommended by sohguanh.

  The file name infected is C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ntstub.dll . Is this file important? Norton cannot delete, qurantine nor can it repair. I'm thinking of using safe mode to delete it but not sure if this is an important file or not.

  How do I remove trojan.startpage. This stupid virus norton cannot done with it.

  If norton cannot delete it, it means your're not suppose to. You might be able to get into safe mode to delete it, but chances are the next boot up won't even let you get into safe mode. For such cases, you have to edit registry values, which if you type in the specific trojan or virus name at norton's website will give you the remedy, if you do know how to go about doing so that is.

  Norton can do many things but it cannot do one essential thing, which is to modify registry values.

  I already went there before but the remedy does not help.

  antivirus software... finds what spybot n lavasoft cant, deletes wat other antivirus software fails to

  This file is important. It's part of Microsoft network services. Deleting it will not help you, instead, will worsen the problem. You may not be able to access Internet.
  
  The only way that I can think of solving this problem is through reformat, as you can neither repair, qurantine nor delete.

  There are many versions of this trojan horse, and different ways are used to solve the different trojan horses.

  You go and find out which version of trojan.startpage then refer to the relevant one.
  
  Instructions should be clear enough to understand.
  
  Trojan.StartPage
  
  Trojan.StartPage.F
  
  Trojan.Startpage.E
  
  Trojan.StartPage.N
  
  Trojan.StartPage.O
  
  Print out instructions before repairing.
