thn now i want to reinstall my win xp..
which options to choose format using fat32 / ntfs blar blar blar..
if i choose leave the partitin something wat no change..
will my data in C be gone?

ok anyway if u choose to insatll Win XP on that partition itself, only data in that partition will be gone...i dono and give a heck bout the recovery console though -
The drive which Win XP will be installing in will be totally erased. Unless you retrieve your files first before reformatting.
NTFS and Fat32 are different drive formats. The newer one will be NTFS so it is recommended that you choose that. -
but only win xp,nt,2000 can recognice ntfs...
and ntfs not supported under dos mode... -

Use NTFS file system for windows OS. Then partition into 4 drives, assuming you have enough diskspace 60GB and above. 40GB just partition into 3 drives.
Partition 1: OS
Partition 2: Program Files (Merge with Partition 1 if 40GB and less.)
Partition 3: My Document and other extra things lah
Partition 4: Paging Files Only <--- Set the paging file here to improve your windows performance, go read more on it then you'll understand, too long for me to explain. The paging file size to be set depending on your RAM. If you have >1GB ram set very little file size so windows will use your RAM more often than the paging file, hence increase even more performance for your PC.
After installing everything, first 2 things to do is to patch your windows until cannot patch anymore, then install a zone alarm firewall. After which, scan your computer for virus and spyware even though it's new, but during the time where you connect to the net until you actually installed all the programs, it's normall 1-2 hours and during that time virus and spyware can hit you. Besides that, you can learn to tweak your registry to further enhance your computer performance though it's risky if you don't know how.
My computer runs very fast but heats up damn fast too, so I always had to enable the power saving mode to get the computer to run at a slower speed. Funny huh, then why spend time to make it run fast in the first place. Coz last time i am so poor and can only afford lousy computers like P2/P3 while other people have P4 so I always try to tweak my computer to make it run at its best possible state. -

put ur win xp cd in n boot up
select install windows, then it do sum crap.. later it will show u there is edi win xp installed. U can choose to del n do fresh install or repair it. -
wa lau eh...
wat i ask is, if i select leave the current setting no change (at format using fat, format using ntfs selection there) after booting up using xp cd will my data in c will lost?
anyway, i'm doing it right now haha.. -

For example, on the reformatting screen, it says whether you want to adjust the partitioning of the drives, originally C and D drives. It'll use C as its system drive, therefore, all data (and usually, programs are installed there) will be erased in drive C while D drive remains intact. -
