Fault: PC hangs every now and then

have been having this problem since 2 days ago.
on Monday night, my PC hangs at around 10pm+, upon restart, 5 mins later will hang again. restart again 5 mins later hang again.
yesterday is slightly better, i on PC at 7.30pm, after 1.5hr, hangs. upon restart, half an hour later hang again, restart, half an hour hang again.
i only thing i remember changing before the annoying fault happens is i change the regional options inside the control panel. i changed my location from United States to Singapore. changed the date format as well.
is it because i changed the regional setting that causes my PC to hang so often?
appreciated any help on this matter. thank you. -
what OS u using? dun tink is bcos of the regional setting cos i also change the location sometimes... u should go microsoft update...

Which version of Windows are you using? If you are using Windows 2000 and above, try this:
Restart the computer. Hit F8 until you reach the screen whereby it allows you to choose Safe Mode. Find "Last Known Good Configuration" and select that option.
For Windows XP, try system restore if Last Known Good Configuration don't work.
For Windows 2000 and below, it's really hard to tell, unless you can remember what you did. It's very hard to roll back for Windows 2000 and below.
1) Did you uninstall any programs or install any programs lately?
2) Did you disable any service that is required by Microsoft to work properly?
3) Ran an anti-spyware or antivirus scan that removes some programs that causes the problems now?

Suspect it's either deletion of system file(any one) or triggering of Malware/trojan.

i didn't install install any new softwares.
when it hangs, it just hangs totally, even clock also stop. got to on/off the CPU.
from experiences from past 2 days. it seems to happen after 9pm. -
Other possible causes are overheating of the cpu or something could be up with your graphics card.

It doesn't strike at 12mn....but 9pm!!!!

i'm going to monitor it's hanging pattern. see what time it hangs tonight and for how long.

reboot in safe mode.
perhaps is sum programs that are reliant on time having an impact on ur registry. eg...antivirus.. one year license, etc.. -

Can you sucessfully see your desktop then after 5mins then it hang?

these r signs n symptoms of somethg about to expire, renew yr p membership and your comp wil b ok liao.

it'll hang in desktop. everything just freeze, clock stop, mouse cannot move. after restart, after 5 mins hang again.
yesterday hang, restart then after half hour hang again.
my PC spec.
Pentium III 1Gig
384 RAM
GeForce FX 128MB

Try rebooting in safe mode and do a scan for viruses, spyware, trojan horses and worms. -

yup, i'm home and i found out the reason that is causing all this hanging.
i opened up the computer and found that the processor fan is dead. the processor probably got overheated and hang.
now i'm using my house fan to cool the processor. -
true enough, it hangs again just now at 9.15pm.
i'm beginning to see a pattern, always hangs after 9pm. can't be a coincidence right? although my processor fan is down, must be something else that's causing it to hang at fixed timing right?
wonder how much more longer i can last before it hangs again.

last time i encounter the same problem as u
my fren check for me and found that the battery on the motherboard is flat oredy...after changing the battery, everything is back to normal -
