anyone knows if Sim Lim square got service like help you transfer data from old HDD to new HDD?
cuz i do it myself very difficult, dont know if everything transferred or not. Or anyone knows any software that can do that?

slim laptops also suffer from these problems. although at first using your laptop for long hours seems fine even tho it feels hot, the increased heat is detrimental to the expected lifespan of the components within.
components have ratings such as MTBF "mean time between failures", these ratings are now adays no longer specified along side major parameters because many components that have found their way into the lappy are increasingly of china manufactories. MTBF figures are tested based on fixed parameters and a controlled temperature.
for eg : maxtor HDD 80Gb MTBF 250,000 hrs tested at 25degree
how many of us can ensure your disc operate at that temperature in your PC or lappy?
it is very common to find lappy HDD operate at 50degree ++, by the time the heat leaks out to be dissipated, you will only find your lappy surface warm to touch. when you felt it is hot, it will prolly be at 60degree ++ already. it only takes a small component to fail for the entire HDD to crash. -

a note of caution also for those who owns external HDD case like those USB/firewire. most of these casings external look like very chio, but inside is HDD baking machine hor ... bake finish spoil liao can open and eat the HDD disc!

4) buy cooling balls that you can put under the backside of your laptop to enable more space for the heat to cool off. Or blow a fan at your laptop -
Electricity consumption is usually based on the Ghz of a laptop, though its processing speed is also partly based on it. However most laptops enable the user to use it just like a desktop. You do not need to worry that long hours will kill your notebook, if the temp gets high, the fan will kick in, if its beyond danger zone, most notebooks will do a auto shut down.
I paid sky price for mine notebook and uses it 6-7 hours a day. No problems. Cooling it can be done in many ways. Stands can be found in hardware store, which will level the leatop up, since the fan and heat sink are usually located at the bottom. Also, HP, Dell, etc sells dock, which will allow you to sit your laptop onto them and other than better cooling, also provides better speed.
BEST WAY ---> Laptop's cooling fan is very important, and most laptops has lousy fans and BIOS which will restrict the fan's activity, thus not using too much electricity. However, if u r using ur laptop at home and has AC power, it makes more sense to go to a Com shop and get a new fan, also, mod the BIOS so you can always on your cooling fan at full blast. This helps a LOT!!!
Warning : For some brands, private modding of fan or BIOS will cause a void in warranty. So you either do it after your warranty period, or u can do it now but if your notebook has problems later, no warranty -
