U need a new monitor liaw.
Sure, ur old monitor works fine..but it will suddenly go off wen ur in the middle of game/work, etc. -

There's light for the adapter, so it means there are enough power to the power adapter. However, this doesn't translate to enough power for your monitor. Buy new stuff for your computer lately? Like new graphics card? Or added more RAM? How many watts for your PSU?
Since you stated the age of your LCD, it could be due to the age of your LCD. Most LCDs don't last for more than 3 years, so it could be dying on you.
Try your LCD on other computers first. If it gives the same results, it's most likely the monitor. If there's no problem, it could be due to your computer specs or graphics card is on the way to the dustbin (means going to spoil).

Isn't it very expensive?
And any recommendation on what LCD to get? how much it cost? around 2000 izzit? -

2000 can get u a PC with free mouse. -
