i'm getting one in Dec
the PC i'm now typing on, is a notebook but i've got to open it up to cool it... the HDD is about to die too

hmm.. can get... not that expensive too..
just wander over to sim lim and get the creative 5.1 (2 side, 2 satellite, 1 centre and one subwoofer) or 6.2 (2 side, 2 satellite, stereo centre speakers, subwoofer and woofer) speakers... but they'll be noiser than heck tho'

If you don't know how, the only way is to ask a professional who knows it or you go the way of reformatting. Because editing the wrong thing will cause system instabilities which will require you to reformat.Originally posted by MooKu:My virus scan reveals nothing.

I thought the problem went away yesterday since the pop-up didn't come on.
But when I turned on my computer moments ago,
1) I tried to open my Windows Media Player
2) Computer did not appear to respond.
3) Then suddenly, and very slowly, the program loaded.
And everything else I tried to do took forever to take place.
Finally, I restarted my computer and now it's better than just now, but something still doesn't feel right.
By the way, I checked my Task Manager and the CPU Usage is 100%. This isn't normal, is it?
I also checked the memory usage of programs, and the significantly highest ones were
1) explorer.exe 31,468K
2) IEXPLORE.EXE 26,720K
3) svchost.exe (User Name: SYSTEM) 20,416K
4) CCAPP.EXE 18,396K

A few viruses use this to hide themselves to prevent detection. w32.Codered, BKDR_ZAPCHAST.BB and the w32.mydoom.b@mm used explorer.exe as a hideout. So I suggest you get an antivirus scan. If the scan revealed that your PC is not affected, explorer.exe is a legitimate program.
2) iexplore.exe is Microsoft Internet Explorer. It typically is all right unless you got a virus. Trojan.KillAV.B, W32.Mogi virus and W32.Comdor.K@mm uses iexplore.exe as a hideout as well, so you get your antivirus to scan as well.
3) svchost.exe is a legitimate program. Also heck that your LSSAS.EXE's username is SYSTEM. If it isn't, means you have spyware on your computer.
4) CCAPP.EXE belongs to Norton Antivirus. This program should not be stopped, unless you have a lot of advertising popups. -

Can you give me a screenshot (alt + Prt Sc or alt + Printscreen, depends on keyboard). Open up MS Paint, press Ctrl + V. Save it as .JPEG or .JPG and upload it to an image hosting website.
Then put the image here. -
Dec too early for iMac IMO. After Macworld 2006 will be just nice.

I'm not posting the images here cos the window will just stretch like crazy for anyone who comes here.
Also errm, when I try to open programs, Windows does not respond at first - as in I don't hear the computer reading anything. Normally there's a sound from the CPU right? But it doesn't happen. Instead it semi-hangs for a while (I still can move my mouse but I cannot click) and then slowly it'll rumble to life... at a very slow pace.
By the way, to what extent does the amount of hard disk space left in the computer affect the speed at which it works?
