Hm... I'm noob at hardware stuff. You don't have to throw away, may be able to reuse some of themOriginally posted by defect:Yeah I think getting the newest technology would be better...could you guys recommend? Like tell me the specifics like which type of PCI express or Brands/Model numbers? And what do u guys have to say about the mainboard and CPU? Sorry...there are so many types out there I'm having a headache really...
My PC is more than 4 years old...actually running quite well(had changed power box and hard disk once) and fast. In fact its quite a pity if I just throw it away.
AMD mainboard is good nowadays, quiet and cool.Originally posted by defect:Yeah I think getting the graphics card with the newest technology would be better...could you guys recommend? I totally agree that AMD Mobo is quiet! My bro's computer (which I fixed) has weird noises @ high pitch coming from the fan of the Mobo. Simply irritating.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:AMD mainboard is good nowadays, quiet and cool.
You just get down to Sim Lim and go Fuwell (4th level). Get a brochure from them and read through to see what you want. For gaming, you can get a duo core mainboard. If you are using it for normal day-to-day work like email, playing simple puzzle games from Gamehouse, a single core mainboard will do.
Fuwell price guide
10 years ago AMD is a cheap brand with low stability. Today, its proven to be as stable as, if not better performing than Intel. Heard of Vodoo or Vilocity? They are both the top brands of gaming PCs in the world. All of which are running AMD dual core.Originally posted by defect:I previously had a problem with my display(as some of you might know) and found out that my video card was faulty so now I have to replace a video card.
My current PC is an old one, running Athlon XP and using GeForce 4 MX. I havent been updating myself with the newest technology news so I that's why I'm starting this topic
I heard that now the newest technology is PCI express so my mainboard can't support. I figured that I might as well change my mainboard, CPU, and get a new PCI express graphics card instead of buying a new outdated AGP 8X card.
But there are so many types of mainboard and CPU and graphics card out there....so many types...so like I've said I'm outdated.
I hope to get a good mainboard and CPU which has got the most value for money at the moment. Or is it better to wait for the prices to drop? I guess I prefer AMD. What do you guys think? I need recommendations.
As for graphics card...I'm not too sure. Perhaps I can use the old technology(AGP 8X) since they are cheap. But if that's the case I don't have to upgrade my computer.
I'm quite in a dilemma now. I hope you guys are kind enough to help me get my PC up and running asap.![]()
what are ur present specs?...if U change to a new system with new mobo, grpahics card etc...there isnt much to reuse except HDD and disc drives if U choose to...I dont think U can/want to reuse the RAM since there are better RAMs out there since U last changed...Originally posted by defect:Yeah I think getting the graphics card with the newest technology would be better...could you guys recommend?
