question on proxy server

  do u use a proxy server for your internet browser? (i mean the proxy server checkbox in internet options)
  
  then do you put a check in the checkbox for 'automatically detect settings' ?
  
  is it better to use a proxy server or what?
  
  then what is the purpose of the 'automatically detect settings'? should it be checked or unchecked?

  most company got put proxy oso

  Home users don't need to use proxy server when they are serving from home, unless you got lots of sensitive data around your computer or you are doing illegal things.
  
  Companies use proxy servers for security purposes.
  
  So there's no need to check the proxy server checkbox.

  left singnet 2 years back...that time still need to put proxy...anyway...I vaguely remember being behind a proxy as an IDA requirement....now no?

  I don't remember having to put proxy. I signed up for Singnet's broadband in year 2003. No proxy was required.
