Does installing more ram cause the temperature to rise?

yes

Yes, but if you do the same amount of work with more RAM, it will be faster and temperature difference will not be significant.

RAMs with lesser black IC chips on them doesn't generate as much as heat as those with many IC chips right?

i have temperature problems too.
My processor is P3.2, the original fan is ok, cos i touch the back of the motherboard where the CPU is, it's not very hot. And i check the temp from bios screen, it's also not very hot too. the metal plate on my gfx card are cool, not even warm. my 2X512RAM are warm, not "hot".
But some other parts of my motherboard when i touch it, its freaking hot. Things that i do are: Normal system processes, Bitcomet in background downloading stuff(up to 10 downloads), Anti-virus(kapasky, how to spell?), and play 3D games(NFS9/Dungeon lord/Juiced) while those things running in background.
Anyone have any idea how to prevent it? Or what i do is do heavy? If it's because of the 3D games, why my gfx card(256VRAM) is not hot?

If you're using a laptop, it might be worthwhile to invest in a cooling pad.
And yes, I did notice the laptop getting hotter after adding another RAM chip.
I can really feel the heat after a while if I don't use a cooling pad. I use an active cooling pad (with two fans) at home, and Speedballs when on the move.
