Let's say if my portable harddisk needs a supply of 5V to work, and by plugging it into a USB 2.0 CardBus which can supply 3V max, will the CardBus be fried in the sense that due to insufficient output supply?Originally posted by alexkusu:it has no circuits
PC cards get their power supply from motherboard. So, by shorting the PC card, you could short the motherboard as well.Originally posted by dork3d:Let's say if my portable harddisk needs a supply of 5V to work, and by plugging it into a USB 2.0 CardBus which can supply 3V max, will the CardBus be fried in the sense that due to insufficient output supply?
Normally USB devices get its power from the MB, but how about add-on PC Card?
Did a check on my MB of my laptop... The PC Card slot still in working condition, can detect my 1394 PC Card, my MS PC Card Adapter and my CF PC Card Adapter... Just that my USB PC Card doesn't work anymore...Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:PC cards get their power supply from motherboard.
