holy thats scaryOriginally posted by Ito_^:if really cannot.
call up microsoft and scream at them.
actually may not be the case.. usually happen with older license. my one oso.. very old le, when it first came out. after reinstallation so many times, it gets funny with the validation process.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Is yours a laptop?
If yes, check the base for a validation sticker. If there's no sticker, that means it isn't genuine. All laptops using genuine Microsoft OS will have that sticker given by Microsoft.
If it is a desktop, did you bought it from retailers like Harvey Norman and Courts? If yes, then it shouldn't be a problem.
If you bought it from some other shops in Funan or Sim Lim (branded ones like HP, Acer, Compaq, etc), be sure to check the sides for the Microsoft sticker.
If you custom built it, double check that the Microsoft OS disc you bought is a real one. There are some fakes on the shelves which looks like the real ones, and Microsoft offers exchange for it. Call up Microsoft and they will gladly help you.
Perhaps it's been reinstalled too many times. Heard of some computers failed to pass the validation program if they reformat the computer a lot of times.Originally posted by Ito_^:actually may not be the case.. usually happen with older license. my one oso.. very old le, when it first came out. after reinstallation so many times, it gets funny with the validation process.
sometimes doesn't work, sometimes no problem.
dunnoe why oso.
(when it has problems with activation, i do call the tech support and complain to the person - quite accomodating, no need scream.)

Beta version means that particular software or the version of the software is new and still under testing for bugs. Beta softwares are usually risky to use since there are errors to sort out and is incomplete. However, you get a first hand look at the latest developments

So there's no way you can check. Even if the salesman is using a legitimate version, Microsoft can't help. Either you buy a brand new Microsoft disc or you bypass Microsoft's validation program.Originally posted by OasisBlue:Hmm, I bought it at sim lim.
