Blank DVD-9 prices

How come you can "apparentely" buy DVD-9 movies in China or Malaysia or Indonesia for 2S$ when the blank media already costs 10S$ down here??? I mean, before burning the movie, they still need to buy a blank media, don't they... and still they manage to sell it very cheap. Are the prices of blank DVD-9 purposely maintained high in Singapore?

Singapore, as far as I know, don't have DVD-9. mmm if i am not mistaken maybe he is referring DVD9 to double layer DVD disc?

If I was not wrong, I came across a report saying DVD movies has a maximum cost price of US$2. Yet it was sold for 50 plus S$. No wonder pirated goods are in high demand -

Yeah, by DVD-9 I mean Dual Layer Single Sided DVD. More here.
When you buy / rent DVD-9 movies, this is exactly what you get: a Dual Layer Single Sided DVD. In China / Indonesia / etc they sell these movies around 2-3S$.
Now, if you go and buy the blank DVD-9 media from a Singapore store, they'll sell it for about 10S$!!
