Sometime my computer would suddenly reboot.. How this happen?

is there any error or warning message prior to the reboot?
if there's none..it might be hard disk or system failure...i experenced b4.. -
will auto reboot by default if there's system failure.

Er.. It doesn't have any error popup.. It auto reboot then went to the logon screen. It doesn't have any blue screen..

Hi Whaton|y,
sometimes you pc will auto restart due to overheating of devices. This is to prevent the devices from getting burnt.
You could check your CPU temp. at BIOS or if you recently installed some new devices, supply the correct voltage to them at BIOS also.
Otherwise scanned you pc for virus/malware. These may cause irregular exception too.
If possible, right click "My Computer", select Manage
Navigate to Computer Management (Local)>System Tools>Event Viewer
Check the Application Log and System Log, jolt down the last few event before your pc restart and post it here, maybe we can help.
Lastly, backup your important files and format you pc. If problem presist after formatting, take your pc to service. -

I used to have this problem in the past, where it will auto restart during a game.. when i took it for repair, the motherboard fan is not spinning... must repair the motherboard.. for yurs, i not sure too.. might be overheating..

When my system gets overheated, it doesnt reboot, it goes to blue screen.
That time it happen very often when i play 3D games, so i look inside the casing, found out that my CPU fan is too dusty. Means the gap between the metal plates all filled with dust, so the fan is turning, but the wind was blocked by the dust.
So i took out the thing and use cotton bud to clean and blow the dust out. After i cleaned it, it's ok for me to play 3D games for long time without getting overheated until blue screen.
For your case, if it's software problem, you may need to format and re-install Window XP. Different copy of Windos XP makes a difference in terms of stablity, i mean different version of pirated copies. -

booting into BIOS varies between each brand of com or motherboard...
u can refer to here for more details.. -
does the computer works after the auto-reset? if so, i doubt the problem lies with the temperature. you would need to let the computer cool down first if that's the cause of the problem. any more clues/symptoms/observations?

Hmm the first time have some problem it load very slow during going to the logon screen. The second type. Just a reboot and it works..

Just now i went to restart my computer.. When i logon to my account, i got into my deskstop.. Then my msn, anti-virus and Intel(R) Extreme Graphics did not start... When i point my cursor to the taskbar. The cursor show a hour-glass..
Then i off my computer.. It have explorer.exe error. It say something like Ending Explorer.exe.. Then i could choose End Now.. -
did u try running a virus and spyware scan?

No, I didn't.. Because the scanning take many time..
