when we open photoshop, it's usually grey for the bg...
den for my colleague, her's grey at first den when she start playin around with ps... the bg changes from grey to greenish... and acc to her it affects her work oso cos when she tried filling in colours... the colours dun turn out right...
no detail on my side go and pester that shinta for details if want

Is this box 'Use web colors' checked? Try unchecking it.
Otherwise, check for the color settings when you create a new image> RGB
