i dont tink u can upgrade the internal memory..unless u want to DIY...there's the expansion slot for memory card but thats the external memory...Originally posted by Twincat:to some extent it will drain more for bigger memory...
but the difference will be very little...
can upgrade to 512MB internal Memory meh?
there is procedure done on Older Palm series where a 8MB was upgraded to 16MB....but looking at the chip used is quite difficult to upgrade...Originally posted by ceecookie:i dont tink u can upgrade the internal memory..unless u want to DIY...there's the expansion slot for memory card but thats the external memory...
Yes I'm refering to Internal Memory, and I have come across an online company in California, that is dedicated to modding PDA and PDA phones. They claim they can upgrade memories in PDA or PDA phones, but I am wary that more memory might use up battery faster. Furthermore, what if Windows Mobile 2003 SE which is written for PDA can't handle increased memory size??Originally posted by Twincat:there is procedure done on Older Palm series where a 8MB was upgraded to 16MB....but looking at the chip used is quite difficult to upgrade...
XDA IIs uses BGA (ball grid array) interconnect while Older Palm uses J lead reflux . It just would not be easy...
hmm...but u have to be aware of the obvious fact that your warrenty on the O2 will be voided if u mod it,so if the mod goes wrong,u have to pay for the dmg urself...Originally posted by ShutterBug:Yes I'm refering to Internal Memory, and I have come across an online company in California, that is dedicated to modding PDA and PDA phones. Problem with this PDA phones, is that there's very little info on Windows Mobile OS. All these while, I know it is Windows' memory management algo that causes the hangs, not so much the device.
I find the sliding keyboard just ok, although I NEVER use it all - you see I have bad eye-sight (long sighted). I never looked at another mobile phone again since I started using O2 in 2004, because the phone buttons in XDA II & IIs, is VERY visible. Those new phones in the market are so small these days, they should come packaged with a mini magnifying glass!
dun mind if i chip in...Originally posted by LazerLordz:I'm thinking of moving up to the IIs. Currently I'm using the II, and it's got a few problems now and then. Have had to hard reset it 3 times this year.
Buzzdev has the ROM for WinMobile 2005, which makes me quite interested in flashing my II's ROM to that.
Shutterbug, do you have any idea if the wifi function on the IIs drains the battery rapidly?
heh, not a problemOriginally posted by Twincat:dun mind if i chip in...
WM2005 will slow down your system since every program will be stored in the rom...
the upgrade to WM2005 will be a bit of challenge since u need to resize the extended ROM.
for the wifi portion, if you use in performance mode (highest draining) the batt will drain off ard 50% in 40 mins time (wif/back lit 30%)...maybe my is an old batt thats why...
Yes, in fcat WiFi connections also drains battery fast on the old XDA II.Originally posted by LazerLordz:I'm thinking of moving up to the IIs. Currently I'm using the II, and it's got a few problems now and then. Have had to hard reset it 3 times this year.
