mySQL + PHP?

Anyone here is successfully running the following configuration?
1. Windows XP Home SP2
2. PHP 5.2
3. mySQL 5.0.22
4. Apache 2.2.2
I have successfully setup my system to run the Apache with PHP.The phpinfo() can work on my IE 7 Beta but I am having problems running the mySQL 5.0.22...either with mySQL or Apache.
I understand that PHP has a php_mysqli.dll in its ext folder to use for newer versions of mySQL but I cant get it to work.Basically the problem is "database not supported by PHP".
Anyone has any luck with it? -

the MySQL server had you add into the apache httpd.conf?
I not very sure of MySQL configuration, coz I use dbms from access or SQL only.
You will have to search what is the additional lines to add into the httpd...

if U are...how do U configure ur mySQL 5.0.22 to work with PHP5.2...especially since PHP5.2 has to use the sqli DLL to work...
my addition to the httpd.conf file
LoadModule php5_module "C:/PHP/php5apache2_2.dll"
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
PHPIniDir "C:/PHP"
my addition to php.ini file
doc_root = c:\apache\htdocs // for Apache
extension_dir = C:\PHP\ext // The location where PHP searches for
extension=php_mysqli.dll // MySQLi extension
All privileges are granted to user123 with the following lines
mysql>grant all privileges on *.* to "user123"@"localhost" identified by "123" with grant option;
mysql>grant all privileges on *.* to "user123"@"%" identified by "123" with grant option;
mysql>quit
I can login to mysql at the command prompt with "mysql -u user123 -p123" so I guess its not a privilege access issue...

Try to add one more line in your httpd.conf:code:AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps
And this line in your php.ini:
extension_path = %apache directory%/php/extensions/
extension=php_gd2.dll
extension=php_msql.dll
extension=php_mysql.dll
I think maybe your version of MySQLi needs mysql too..
Then now add the MySQL as a service and restart the server...
In ms-dos:
>cd %mysql_directory%
%mysql_directory%>mysqladmin -u root shutdown
%mysql_directory%>mysqld-nt --install
%mysql_directory%>net start mysql
Then should be okay le ba... Haiz.. really hope this helps.... -

Apache 2.2.2 is in C:\Apache
PHP 5.2 is in C:\PHP
mySQL 5.0.22 is in C:\mySQL

There isnt a PHP\Extension folder in my Apache folder...so I used the one in PHP...and I couldnt get the %mysql_directory%>mysqladmin -u root shutdown command to work so I saved the changes and reboot the system.
sqli still doesnt show in phpinfo.php

But somehow apache 2.2.x couldn't support php 5.x
From there it somehow disable my_sqli too...

To summerize it, usually people can't get to work is because of their connect_mysqli and the connectors. Yours is different case, it is like your sql is not supported...
So I think it is better to download WAMP5 from:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wampserver/wamp5_1.6.4a.exe?download
It combines all php, mysql and apache server, all neatly configured and ready to use.
But first, uninstall your php, mysql and apache server first.

This may be the reason why it can't work.
No. Apache is a Web (HTTP) server, not an application server. The base package does not include any such functionality. See the PHP project and the mod_perl project for examples of modules that allow you to work with databases from within the Apache environment.

from my understanding....in layman terms...I think we are now in the middle of the transistion between PHP,mySQL and Apache...which is sort of inevitable unless they can agree on a common time to release their stable versions.
The situation now should be...
PHP5.1.4 is the current stable release for PHP...but it has a problem connecting to Apache2.2.2 because at the time of its release...Apache2.2.2 has not been released yet...so...the compiling wasnt done with Apache 2.2.2 in mind...
the system will report a "cannot load C:/php/php5apache.dll into server" or ""cannot load C:/php/php5apache2.dll into server"...
To overcome the issue...there is a group of people(individual?) who made modifications to the php5apache2.dll and came up with a PHP 5.2 where the problem is solved. http://snaps.php.net/
So now PHP5.2 and Apache2.2.2 can work with each other...
the next step....mySQL5.0.22....
mySQL has made connectors(mysql and mysqli) to help people with problems for mySQL 5.0.22 but they are complied with PHP5.1.4,which is with the faulty dll...so the connectors are not much help for people like me who is trying Apache2.2.2...I tried...didnt work...but in case U guys want it...http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/php/...
so...I summarise by saying...for now...if I want PHP5.2+Apache 2.2.2+mySQL 5.0.22....I have to do my own source code modification and do the compiling myself?
by the way...anyone here is in the habit of downloading source codes and compiling it themselves?Thinking of learning how to do source codes compiling...seems like fun...
I think by now...my WAMP download should have been done...time to go back and crack my head....Arrgg!! -
Most professional developers do have a habit of compiling their own source code, as they can control it themselves. Otherwise, they will just use whatever that is available to them and that is closest to what they need.

Try looking for this book in the library, The Complete Reference of PHP and mySQL. It's a good book, very easy to understand. But I can't help as I don't use PHP...
