I'm so sorry guys.. Probably the millionth topic on laptops But I need help.. Thinking of buying a new laptop soon my budget is 2k.
Is this one good?

Just want to ask so I can go and scout for better laptops. What should I look for in a laptop, the specs I mean? What is considered good enough? For example, RAM - 512 or 1GB? Processor - 1.66GHz? Graphic? I'm using it for school work and maybe I want to play some games on it too, not really a hardcore gamer though..
I heard Acer spoils easily. Anyone got recommendations? Comments?

Well that acer's processor is a dual core which is quite a new technology and has some balancing issues(balancing of loads between the 2 processors, you may want to do more research on this).
512Ram is good enough as im also on 512Ram, but if you want to play games that requires more power than "The frozen throne" i suggest 1Gb ram. YOu have to check whether that graphics card uses shared memory or not, if it does it will leech memory off your Ram.
Im used my acer laptop for 1.5 years already, no problems. Except that you need to keep it well ventilated, for my case my laptop heats up to quite a high temperature too. -
It's a good price for such a laptop with these specs. However, it's not really complete. Is it duo core or single core? If it's single, probably a bit too slow in today's standard. If it's duo core, it's one of the best.
What are your school work like? Does it require you to use resources intensive programs like Photoshop often? If yes, you will need one with more memory, 512MB will seriously kill it after a while. If it's some programming stuff, 512MB should be enough. As for gaming, since you are not too hardcore, 512MB is enough, the graphics card is a good one also. But it takes up too much resources, you might want to consider increasing it.
Acer doesn't spoil easily if you take good care of it. Don't let it overheat, don't overcharge and it shouldn't be a problem. Shutting down properly will also make it last. -
i am an acer's follower. not only is it value for money, it had a easily accessible service centre in jurong east. max out the ram if possible and this should run well for many good years.

dosen't matter what you'll be using if for, if its really the price u mention, just get it
if there are still some spare cash, upgrade the ram to 1GB and consider about the extended warranty too.

perhaps you should spend more money and invest
in better brands like ibm or toshiba.
all my friends who are using acer are starting to regret alrdy
acer gives good specs at cheap price, but its a low end brand, value for money -

acer prob is the harddrive. often cranked up.
i had that tablet pc one before, so i noe. my fren uses a normal model, the exterior doesn't seem as durable oso.
but even den, its still quite good for the price le.
if got dough, i strongly recommend fujitsu or sony.
although i sarport sony abit more. -
