Hi i'am currently on starhub 4500 plan. my download speed to download stuff is like only 11.4kb/s is it normal? i find my download speed is slower than usual?

different download speed constitutes of many factors la...the starhub side...your downloading client side...what time of the day u downloading...
if you are living in a hdb....the number of people using the same plan as you oso will affect the download speed because they are sharing the same cable...thus more people using equals slower speed... -

It's either the ISP problem, user problem or server problem.
For ISP problem, you have no choice but to bear with it.
Same for server problem. If you don't need the files urgently, download them a while later.
User problem wise, please check for spywares, adwares and viruses. Some spywares love to send emails back to some unknown server, taking up bandwith. If you are using torrents, please limit it. P2P uses a lot of bandwith too. -

depends on wad u download and from where. if u download from a website, most chances are that the web server does not allow u to download at a higher speed. but if its a p2p server, den dats not normal

and also.. it says "UP to 4Mbps"( i think starhub dont have 4.5Mbps plan) the one u are recieving is kB/s. notice the units? 8 bits(b) = 1 byte(B)
and 1024 bytes = 1KB.

thus, the max speed u can get is 500kBps=
so if the server from whom u are downloading from limits to 2Mbps, then you download speed will be slower than 4Mbps.
