haha..as the topic says, my dell notebook (not affected by battery recall) has a problem.
The LCD screen has no light when its switched on.
Is there an authorized service center for Dell at Sim Lim or anywhere else ? ( i know this is a lazy question) .
And does anyone know how much roughly it will cost for this kind of repairs ?
Its only about 1 year plus old...
did u watch many movies, etc on ur laptop?
then the bulb gone liaw...have to shell out $$ or get it fixed under warranthy
You are lucky that it never explode on you.
i think it was used under normal conditions. Not excessive use.
Anyway the manufacturers are supposed to bring this under consideration when they are engineering it right?..haha.. anywayy..
That day when i switched it on, the laptop screen bulb sort of flickered for a while then went off again. So im hoping that the bulb is still ok but some kind of sensor inside is not functioning??
Ive read somewhere b4 that replacing the screen bulb is costly but does anyone know how costly issit ? $100 + ? $200 + ?
The best is still bring it back to distributor, which is dell. Call their service hotline and see what they say. Even though it is much more expensive, but there should be quality in repairing rather than others.
Bring to Dell for repairs.
It would cost more than you think, as they might just replace the whole LCD instead.
Dell's SSC is based in M'sia, may incur extra charges to ship the notebook there for checks.
What happened for mine is I called them and described the problem, then someone came to check and then they ordered the parts from Msia before coming back again to replace... super leh chey and expensive, but heng warrenty cover LOL
I called Dell, and they quoted me $600++.
They just diagnose over the phone and quote you the worst case scenario which is also the most expensive repair cost.
They even suggested i extend my warranty.
In the end i got the inverter changed at Sim Lim Square for a much much cheaper price.
Im wondering if i had inded extended my warranty with dell paying about $500++ would they have changed the whole screen(which costs them more) or just change the inverter that was the actual faulty component ?
I think they would have changed the whole screen.
