When i drag an item on the desktop to another place , the item does not move to the place i wanted it to..instead it just switched places with other icons on the desktop... i tried to drag the item with the 2nd mouse button and clicked "move here" but to no avail
But when i tried rearranging the files in my folder it worked..
Any suggestions ?

Make sure that Auto Arrange is not checked.
Right click on your desktop, Arrange Icons.
Untick Auto Arrange and Align to grid.
