here is the problem
when connecting my USB HUb to laptop, and my mouse to the hub, the mouse doesnt work. but the cooling pad actually works. and the hub actually lit up.
i went over to my desktop CPU and tried the hub. it worked. my keyboard attached to it could be used.
so what does this mean? that my laptop not drawing enough power to power the hub? any suggestions? could it be the driver problem or something? but the hub no give any disc. and it is also labeled as unknown device in my device manager.
problem 2.
external HDD cannot be formatted. it will keep formating and say format not completed successfully or something like that. then on my laptop, it cannot install the drivers. on my cpu however, the drivers are installed. both system are XP. but prior to the driver installation failure on my laptop, it had no problems installing the drivers until i format it once, where it failed. after which i pull the plug out and plug in again, but this time on, the drivers failed to be installed. even after repeated attempts of uninstallation. even uninstallation also cannot do. so i got v pissed.
the installation part hangs at the disk.sys file. while uninstallation just hangs the whole laptop.
any ideas?
Mouse/ usb hub/ notebook cooler.
please plug the mouse into the hub on your desktop computer (the 'CPU') and report if your mouse working or not. since you can do it wif your keyboard you should have done it wif your mouse. part of usb's connection is providing limited power/ current and the notebook cooler should work since it is only providing smaller current to rotate the fan blades. signalling cannot be tested and proven okay with the cooler. what is the usb version of your notebook and what is the spec out usb version of the hub....do the hub require external power adaptor to power it up or support its operation? if its a higher version is it backward compatible with your notebk which may be an older version?
external drive.
if you bought the external drive under an OEM brand name...no need to format just plau and play. similar to use version compatibility issue, what version is youur ext drive usb? high speed usb2? what version is your notebk usb ports? older version? is it spec out in your ext hdd that if its a highher version it may/ should be backward compatible to an older version?
i ever tried to connect an OEM ext hdd which is high speed usb2.0 (not just usb2.0) with an older usb1.1 port from my notebook...i got a warning message not to proceed due to compatibility issues and i heed the warning message and plug out power down the ext hdd.
