i have got one file.

  unknown format and i can only open it wiff real player.
  but then how i cant seem to tick the ''always use the selected program file to open this type of file option'' leh...
  
  how can i solve it?
  
  i want to show the screenshot but how do i go abt doing it?
  i print screeen and save on my microsoft word liao..then wad i do nxt thx bros.

  move mouse cursor over file, point and right click, at the 'chang' button, click on it, will see a new window, scroll down the list and select realplayer. if you have realplayer updated and properly installed should be able to open it always with real player.
  
  the best way is to just click and play the file, will be prompted to open the programme with certain applications...select 'search the web for programmes' and connect to the internet...better to use the appropriate programmes that crated the file for playback.

  we are not suspecting your knowledge in software usage...we are suspecting your hardware, OS, software and accessibility to the appropriate sources to open and operate or work with your unknown file.
  
  please average users of the internet will k now to post images in jpeg format so that it can be viewed easier. unless you OS cannot support convenient conversion of your screenshot in jpeg, please avoid using .png because it took us all a while to view your 1.3MB .png scrnshots.
  
  best go to the web and serach for the programe that created that file.

  Your file doesn't have an extension, therefore windows does not allow any software to pair with your file. You may want to try giving your file a .rm extension by simply typing it after its name. It's default software will then be Real Player

  that will definitely be an irriversible process and since it can be opened with realplayer then its cool. i remember when i was a noob i did such a thing and lost one big file...can't find it anymore.
  
  this is the first time i see a file that do not have an extension and can be opened by a media player. my guess is this guy must have watched the clip over a realtime playbacl fromo flash or realplayer...got the downloaded clip from cache of somewhere within the computer directories, and then post here with this problem indentified as 'can play with realplayer' but cannot change its properties.
