Linksys and Skype to Launch Dual Mode Internet Telephony Kit
SINGAPORE, September 1, 2006 -- Linksys announced the launch of a new dual-mode wireless handset that takes free Skype Internet phone calling off the computer and puts it into the hands of callers.
Based on the CIT200 cordless phone which was released in October last year, the new Internet Telephony Kit (CIT300) features a dual mode capability that allows users to switch between making calls over the Internet or over their existing traditional telephone line. Users now have the convenient alternative of a cordless handset and the freedom to make free Skype calls whether they are at home or in the office.

The new Internet Telephony Kit includes a handset, charger and a base station with USB connection to connect to your PC and RJ-11 connection to connect to your analog line. The handset lets callers take their free Skype calling off the computer and into other rooms using the compatible USB base station. The handset can read and display callersÂ’ Skype contact list on its built-in illuminated display, letting callers know which of their Skype contacts are online and ready to be called. The handset also supports SkypeOut, SkypeIn and Skype Voicemail, inexpensive premium services that lets callers make and receive calls to family, friends and colleagues using traditional landlines or cell phones, and send and receive messages up to 10 minutes long.
