  Hi all,
  Just got my MacBook today, was wondering if anyone here can share how to reformat it? And also, what is the free download for software similar to Windows Office?

  Cuz the HDD indicates it 60GB, but when I on it right, almost 20+ GB is already used.So yeah...wandering wats with it lor

  every mac is like that. my ibook's tiger os comes packed with almost 20+ GB worth of goodies too, from encyclopedias to on-demand dictionary to many other goodies. if u decide to remove them, just delete the folders away from the Applications folder.
  
  there is nothing wrong with it, and u dun need to go thru the hassle of formatting it. in fact, u hardly need to format a Mac.
  
  u under singnet plan ah? i dun wan to get. waiting for leopard and enjoying my ram-upgraded ibook from last year.

  use the Tiger OS DVD that comes with it.
  
  i think only pros will noe how to format it.... cos never heard of anyone needing to format their Mac before.

  Alright, I've made the effort and went down to Apple Shop to find out how to reformat the MacBook.Simply just push the recovery disc in and restart, while starting, press the "c" key to go into bios.

  Haha, no lah, I went to get the software update for my phone at Wheelock, then since there got Apple Shop, pop into their Customer Service Counter and just ask whatever is on my mind lor. Like how to defragment the HDD and stuff.
  
  But anyway, ^tamago^ don't mind teach me how to install stuff on it. Coz aft I installed, I can't find it in the Applications Folder which I'm suppose to be able to.

  wat u tried to install. if u mounted a .dmg, likely the .app is there and u have to drag it into the applications folder. a .dmg is like a .zip, just that it mounts onto a drive instead of extracting the files.
  
  after u copied the .app into applications, u can unmount the .dmg by eject it and deleting the .dmg away.
  
  in mac, practically there is no need to uninstall any apps. just delete the app, and u're ready to go.

  Great, welcome to Mac and OS X.
  
  Besides the forum mentioned, can go see see Apple's Support page for some quick answers. In there, go to this box that says "Mac Support" and click either "Mac 101" or "Switch 101".
  
  Mac 101 is like a refresher course for those folks who used to own a Mac but lost touch after that. Also a good one for the folks who just gotten themselves a Mac.
  
  If you've switched to Mac from Windows, Switch 101 is just for you.

  It's superb cos the new line of Intel Based laptops using glossy finish screen...hence the brighter and richer colours. A matte feel screen is used for the older laptops.

  The screens looks more refined, sharper, definitely better then my IBM T43 which I've been using for a year.

  Alright,I've finally managed to install my Mac's MSN and Mozilla Firefox.Whooopee!!!Got so many accessories to buy to protect this white baby man, keyboard cover, LCD protector, Lid Guard and the cloth thingy at the palm (which I spend like $1 on. Damn! Any place to get the above mentioned 3 items cheaply?

  MSN for Mac din serve me well. Have been using Adium for some time. It also has more customisation than MSN's.

  i'm still using good ol' MSN 5.11. so far so good.
  
  MSN 6 will be out by end of the year.
