Disk I/O error... hmm...
When you restart computer or while the computer is running then give you this error?
If it's during the restarting of computer, then some parts of Windows might be corrupted. Either repair or reformat...
If your computer is running then give you this error, then I have no idea.
hdd prob??? i dont think so....Originally posted by yuko-ogura:dun touch ur com for one whole day.
let the system cool.
if u can't wait,it's best to reformat it.
Then Windows could be corrupted. Don't reformat first.Originally posted by duotiga83:i try to bootup sometimes give me this error......
iverheat as in which system overheat? processor or fan?
i only have 1 hdd but partition into 4 partitions.....BIOS setting is already change to Auto....Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:Then Windows could be corrupted. Don't reformat first.
You take out the hard disk and check the jumper settings. If you use more than one hard disk, take out those hard disks and check the jumper settings as well. The one with Wndows loaded should be using master settings. There's a sticker at the back or on the top of the hard disk, set the jumpers accordingly. The rest set to slave.
Then go into BIOS, change the settings to Auto for all hard disks.
Overheat could be due to the failure of fan. Open up the CPU, let it run. See if the fan is running. If you have more fans, make sure all are running.
If after all this you still have disk I/O error, then need to repair or reformat Windows liao.
The like that Windows almost gone... if can repair Windows, just repair it. Don't need to reformat. But may lose files during the rebuilding. If can boot into Windows, backup all important files.Originally posted by duotiga83:i only have 1 hdd but partition into 4 partitions.....BIOS setting is already change to Auto....

Can't remember the command for it. It's fdisk something, to rebuild the master boot record (MBR).
Take out the processor and fan and then re-put them back again. Could have accidentally hit them out of place or something.

if no, then press F2 to load default.
if yes, take note of wat u have changed and load default.
disk errors cld be a separate prob as they might be due to frequent improper shutdowns. Did the disk errors msg appeared in the first shutdown?
do a check n fix system errors n disk sector after making sure the processor is not overclocked.![]()
It depends, maybe because yr Hdd got bad sector and some files used in Windows are located to that bad sector.Originally posted by duotiga83:if disk failure shld have force me to restart but why shutdown?![]()
thanksOriginally posted by redpicanto:Hope these helps;
1) Go to Bios and load defualt setting.
2) Boot from fdd to dos, copy fdisk.exe to the floppy disk. In Dos mode, type fdisk /mbr and reboot.
3) If yr PC shutdown immediatly after booting to windows, do a repair by booting from the Windows CD
4) Try going to to safe mode (By pressing F, right click at my computer, propertise, tools, do error checking and defrag your hdd.
5)If step 1 to step 5 still fails, buy another Hdd and copy whatever important files and fromat the hdd. Remenber to clear all the partition and format the hdd as a whole hdd size.
