i have a few movie files i've downloaded using bt. .avi but need divx codec to play i think. anyone knows how i can burn the files on a dvd (r/rw) so i can play it on my dvd player on tv. Can i use the divx player function (drag/drop/burn) or other software?
also, which media must i specifically use? dvd-r or dvd-rw?
You can just write the movies (which are DIVX encoded) after download completion as they were. There is no need to modify or worry about the downloaded file/s.
It is your media player that you should take note of. For example if you wre using WMP then you have to install DIXV on your computer so that your media player can playback the file from your wrotten DVD disc/s.
I do not know about Apple computers and Quicktime player mayb using them for playback are more convenient?
It depends on what your DVD drive supports. If it's bought quite some time ago, it might support only DVD-R or DVD+R only. Check your receipt to see what drive have you bought and buy a DVD that is compatible with it.
Same for DVD-RW and DVD+RW.
If you have bought it recently, most likely it will be compatible with both DVD+R and DVD-R. Just double check your receipt to make sure.
.avi files should open in Windows correctly without the Divx codecs, if I'm not wrong. Apple Quicktime is also able to open them.
ic. i mean can i burn the movie directly on to dvdr/rw and watch it on tv using my dvd player?
Yes...just follow your DVD-writer's instruction and choose write as DVD instead of backing up. You should be able to play the movie over the TV.
