correct me if i am wrong but you may still need to have a broadband plan. in the past only hotspots (e.g internet cafes) allows wireless broadband access but now with this 2 yr free access more parts of the island can be cover and for traceablilty and traffic bandwidth control you may need to log in with an already paid user account to surf wirelessly. nothinig should have been changed except for the free wider service coverage in data exchange medium over what could have been done by a cable/ via hotspots.
but i do want to know what modem or antenna a notebook user should use to facilitate data transmission. i know packet data receiving should not be a problem at the client's end, its the transmission.
Notebook wise, I don't think hardware need upgrading, unless the government is zek ark enough to use 802.11a for wireless. But then again, 802.11a operates on a different frequency, so it would be faster without all the mobile phones interferences.
If government decides to use 802.11a, then a lot of people will have to buy a network card that supports 802.11a. Newer duo core notebooks shouldn't be affected, as some manufacturers make their antenna to be suitable for all 3 wireless standards, i.e. 802.11a, 802.11b and 802.11g.
