problems with mouse

  sometimes my mouse gets "hijacked"
  
  if i was going to click a program..it might just click a program 4-5 icons above or click the start button
  
  -scan for spyware- Clean (using S&D)
  -optical mouse
  -ever since i bought the CPU, since the very first time i started using..it has been giving me this problem
  
  its not really a problem..but annoying..espically doing work and not saving and the mouse moves to the X on its own and i will accidently click it
  
  any ideas how to fix it?

  You mean the problem happens when both the mouse and the PC is brand new?
  Have you tried installing the driver given to you with the mouse, instead of the driver XP installed by default?
  And is the surface under your mouse suitable for it?? I have a fren who got a optical mouse that can only use on dark surface, cannot use on white color surface.
  Try using your mouse on different things, matt/gloss surface, dark/white surface.

  Get a mouse pad or use an exercise book....
  
  Optical mouse is like that....
  
  If not, use ball mouse again.

  change ur mousepad.optical devices do not go well with glossy surface.
  
  or if U have a normal ball mouse...change to it and see if ur problem persists.just make sure ur ball mouse is clean.
