hard drive proble need help

  hope someone can help..
  
  i just brought a maxtor 250gb usb hard drive (personal storage 3100 series), the drive is not able to detect on my PC when I clicked "My computer". I have tried re-inserting into usb ports but still cant, ironically when i plug the drive into my laptop it recoginese it. I suspect is my XP that giving problem, the drive is working..any advice..thanks

  drive can detect pc one meh??

  restart comp.
  try another usb port.

  Two things to do:
  
  1>> FULLY update your Windows XP via Micorosoft's Windows Update website, COMPLETE the updates
  
  2>> Check for and download the latest version of drivers for your motherboard's chipset
  
  Done.

  Go into safe mode and try again.
  
  You may also want to go into Mator website and download the disk driver.

  Control Panel >> Performance and Maintenance >> Administrative Tools >> Computer Management >> Disk Management
  
  U will know wat to do..

  ur hard disk is if plug into a usb hub port at ur pc.. den it won't work if it no required adapter.

  If your PC is quite old, it may not work with old USB ports.
