i would hardlike call that a build....did you get a notebook case? what OEM brand is that csae? what about the display...from whcihc OEM manufacturer? what about the mobo and graphics card? so u just add some ram or swap that hard disk you call it a build? what about floppy and optical drives? u mean u can just get any OEMs out there and fit it in and it will work? i tell u u r stcuk with only the selected expansion modules from certain notebook makers.Originally posted by chenc:You are very vague.
First of all, what does 'good' mean to you?
Are you looking for specs or just look and comfort.
If you looking for specs, don't bother about the model. 1 model can have many many different specs. So if you just tell us model it doesn't help.
For specs, try to keep yourself up to date, especially during this time when a IT revolution is taking place.

for general use any notebook under sgd 1500 will do fine. never get Dell...make sure for first time buyer go down to the shop and tell the sales assustant to bring out the set that you intend to buy and hav it powered up and you start testing on the spot...check for dead pixels and even if u find one insist that you want to change another set without a dead pixel. check for other visible defects too.Originally posted by bluejuice:I want to get a laptop for home use.. but not sure what model is good. This is a groundless accusation and reflects your narrow-mindedness.Originally posted by pipipopo:for general use any notebook under sgd 1500 will do fine. never get Dell...make sure for first time buyer go down to the shop and tell the sales assustant to bring out the set that you intend to buy and hav it powered up and you start testing on the spot...check for dead pixels and even if u find one insist that you want to change another set without a dead pixel. check for other visible defects too.
Dell ships their sets to your doorsteps so they can pick any bad units and ship to you...never buy from them.
