Lappie lagging when playing video files

When I tried to play some of my drama files in both Media Player Classic and Windows Media Player, there are some lags on the screen. As in the images will move smoothly for a few seconds then there will be a pause, skip some images and then went smooth again for a few seconds. After that the whole cycle repeats.
Not sure why this is happening, it was fine when I played the same file a few months ago. I have defragmented my lappie but this problem is still occuring. The drama file is in my C drive by the way.
My lappie now only has 20% free space tho..is this the cause of this problem? -
no one has this problem before?

could be... your video hardware isn't up to it...
either that, or your lappie may be overheating... see if you can get the insides and the heatsink cleaned out... -

anymore ideas on how to solve this problem? -
run a video file and see the resources utilization of all the processes...any particular process tat has abnormal cpu or memory while the video images jerk?

then look for one of the tabs.. i forgot which and i can't check coz i'm using an Apple now

wat is considered abnormal? My Opera running at 50,000k

sort the processes by CPU utilization in descending order by clicking the CPU heading...any sharp increase on any process when the video images jerk?

got sharp increase in mplayerc, wich is the program i use to play the movie file...

i tried playing other movie files as well, and the images jerk also...so confirmed it is not the problem wif only this file, it is with all video files...
this starts to happen a week ago...dat time my free space in my lappie only 10%, so i started to defrag and dump some useless files and programs away, so now i have 20% of free space.
But problem persists

under the view> options> playblack> output,
the video output is set to what?
the default is VMR7 (windowed). Setting to overlay will improve the playback a bit, but you cant save pictures. -
Don't open too many tabs. That's the problem of tab browsing, open so many tabs until memory usage is so high. It can cause some lags. One process using too much memory will slow down the whole computer.
There's a shortcut for Task Manager though. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc. Saves time.
Try closing Opera and watch that video; there should be significant changes.

last time watched it using that player oso, no problem watsoever...
